Journal of Humanitarian Studies Vol. 4, 2015program, is conducted together as well as a international health care study on offer. In 2010, a course forcertified nurse specialists was established as part of the master’s program, which aims to nurture specialistsin practice of nursing education and nursing management. In 2014, the doctoral program in disasternursing was established in the Graduate School of Nursing and a joint graduate school on Disaster NursingGlobal Leader (DNGL) was launched comprising five unversities/colleges (an academic five-year coursecombined master’s and doctoral programs).The master’s program has promoted curricular expansion for nurse specialists. In 2014, seven academicfields, Chronic Care Nursing, Child and Family Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Cancer Nursing, CriticalCare Nursing, Gerontological Nursing and Disaster Nursing, were certified as the curriculum for nursingspecialists by the Japan Association of Nursing Programs in Universities.In 2006, the Frontier Center for nursing practice, education and research was launched and promoted theeducation of certified nurses. The certified nurse was established in response to the needs of nurses withnursing knowledge and skills of a specialized field against ever-advancing medical care.
