In 2013, JRCCN inaugurated a Doctoral Program on International / Disaster Nursing, in addition to aMaster Program.8. A two-year Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS) Course, Master level program, was established in June,2013. This project gave an impetus and the course was approved by the Japan Association of NursingPrograms in Universities (JANPU) at the Red Cross College of Nursing. The course is also being offeredat two other colleges/ universities (Hiroshima Red Cross College of Nursing and Fukui University).9. In April 2014, a“Disaster Nursing Global Leader Degree Program (DNGL)”was inaugurated. TheCourse is a five-year postgraduate program (Master and Doctoral programs) and credits are interchangeableamong five colleges and universities (University of Kochi, University of Hyogo, Tokyo Medical and DentalUniversity, Chiba University and the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing (JRCCN)). The DisasterNursing Education Project provided the foundation for offering the program at JRCCN.10. Immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, faculty members, postgraduatestudents and undergraduate students were dispatched to disaster areas to support disaster victims, inresponse to requests by the Japan Red Cross Society and the Japanese Nursing Association. These activitiesin Japan will contribute to disaster relief activities overseas.Above all, the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing has developed into a center for disaster nursingresearch and an educational training center, on both the national and international levels.108人道研究ジャーナルVol. 4, 2015
